Similar to their aluminium platform transporter counterparts, they are also reasonably low profile and have a height of around 2 inches with deflated air bearings.

Air pallets are offered with either A-type or B-type air bearings, based on the intended use, sort of floring surface, and kind of load they will be moving or transporting. A-type air bearings are the traditional standard fit, and when they’re energised, they move the load away from the floor surface "just enough" to float the load which can then be moved off to its intended destination. This kind of set up requires the load to be put upon the air pallet.
When air pallets set up includes B-type air bearings, the features of air pallets alter slightly. B-type air bearings have a lift height that makes them lift a load or pallet away from its base before moving it laterally to its location. This form of lift is available for numerous circumstances when loads are not able to be put on the air pallet by other methods.

In addition to the higher lift of the B-type air bearings, they also are a little more robust and can often work on flooring that seem rougher than the typical smooth concrete type of flooring surface. However, they do make use of about the twice the amount of compressed air as the A-type air bearings do.
